Rin Ushiyama (Department of Sociology) is a PhD candidate working on cultural sociology, collective memory and social performance, with a specific focus on contemporary Japan. His dissertation examines how the Aum Affair, a series of crimes and terrorist attacks committed by the religious movement Aum Shinrikyo in the early 1990s, has been remembered and commemorated.
